We did a 7 mile run out on the rural roads near our property in the Buteo Wagonette with our pair of 10 hh shetland ponies. We were amazed at how smooth the ride was. The ponies seemed to enjoy the fact that they no longer had to carry the weight of the pole on their collars. The engineering on this little vehicle is amazing. Another feature that the shetlands like it the “Spares & and Horse cookie storage area” that is available under the front seat. I like to carry snacks for them on longer drives and they never think that my pocket holds quite enough. We are really enjoying our Buteo(ponies and humans alike). The next step will be to try it out with a pair of miniature horses. I have to break a new pair first so i will send more pics once the mission is accomplished. We would be glad to speak to anyone who is interested in this product and sharing our impression. We are certainly satisfied customers. Kathy Pauw

We had a successful weekend with this pair of minis. It with our solid gelding and his 2 year old daughter. All went well after the gal learned to pull; until then the gelding hunkered down and had to do the job alone. She did figure out how to pull and they became a team.. What fun!

They’re my Polish Driving Ponies: Maggie with the blaze and Mollie with the hind half-stocking, ages 7 and 17 respectively. They had only been put together for 2-1/2 months at this point. Maggie had been driven singly for 1-1/2 years; Mollie had been a leader of a 4-in-hand for most of her life. Aren’t they cute? And along with my navigator Vee Sutherland (this was her first time back-stepping at a CDE) we ALL had a blast… and sailed right through the vet checks So even at 500 lbs with 2 humans our carriage pulls easy enough for a small pair of ponies at Preliminary Level Pat Belskie Ashemont Farm

I hope these help you. I have found the Kutzman to be a solid vehicle with a nice ride, and good balance. We got a PERFECT score in our standing presentation judging at AZ. Hope you do well selling them – although with the current economy, and the ADS CDE committee considering changing the wheel widths, I suspect people are holding off on investing in a carriage
until they see what will be done. Just curious, does Kutzman offer adjustable axles? And what is the basic cost for those.

I got this carriage from Shelly in Dec. of 2007. It is a pony Fox & my 14.1hand Connemara Gelding is pulling it. Hope this is of some help. Vivian Oh, I love my carriage!! I use it for pleasure driving. On hiking trails, thru woods, open fields.

Sue Freivald of Virginia sent this picture that really makes you think about why we drive.

While this isn’t the best picture in the world, it demonstrates why I bought the pony lite. The lady in the back on the right has advanced multiple sclerosis. She cannot hold her upper body upright without her arms being braced and is of course wheelchair bound. We were able to put a ramp to the back of the Pony Lite and roll her wheel chair up so that the gal on the left could do a stand-pivot-sit with her–the back and sides of the seat provided good support (I padded the metal on the back of the carriage) and we used soft lead ropes tied across to give her further arm support so that she could sit upright. Meg (in red) used her leg across the back opening just as a bit of added insurance. We were able to take this lady out for a delightful drive around the hay fields and through the woods. The carriage is well sprung and comfortable, and the center of gravity is low making it very stable. The lady with MS never  stopped smiling. It was a gift for all of us.

The pneumatic tires add some cushioning to the ride, however since I do mostly cross country stuff and over some fairly rough terrain, my new carriage will have the steel wheels. Just my personal paranoia. I also drive alone most of the time and worry about all the tires in my life . . . care tires, bike tires, carriage tires . . . so decided to go with the steel wheels. I have heard absolutely no complaints about the pneumatics (not allowed in competition, however) and Paul Maye trains with the Kutzmanns and pneumatic wheels. You have an excellent product to promote.
